VideosAroundTown: Sundressed “Hold Your Head Up High”

It occurred to me that I’ve been following Sundressed since the start and at first, honestly they came off a little folky for my tastes, but there has that hint of grit that kept me watching, kept me listening. I was subtly impressed by their debut EP, then subsequently blown away by last years Whiskey With Milk and most recently, I have been stunned by the two new recordings they contributed to a split tape on Rubber Brother Records with Days of Light Gravity. Over the years they’ve gotten louder, angrier, faster and edgier, that bit of grit I saw years ago on a sad stage at Long Wong’s has become a freaking pearl of rock’n'roll that I couldn’t delight in more. With each passing record, each passing show they become more and more the kind of band I just want to see all the damn time. And honestly, if this doesn’t culminate ins some kind of magnificent full length rock record the likes of which have not be heard since The Replacements Tim, I’ll probably just explode.

Sundressed’s new video was released late last week and within two days “Hold Your Head Up High” had over a thousand views on YouTube. I feel this is for many reasons, first, it’s the best song they’ve ever done, second, it has at least 30 of their friends in it and you know their friends had to watch it and finally, it’s just damn fun to watch…oh, did I mention it’s their best fucking song to date? Shot, directed and Edited by Cory Davis( www.yellowboxfilms.tv) at Parliament, this shoot looks like it was a blast and I was going to go, but after holiday gluttony, I didn’t want to see myself on film, forever. Nevertheless, you can watch as a ton of indie kids dance awkwardly while Trevor Hedges screams above it all. Check it out below and for more Sundressed click on the Bandcamp link to get some more.
