What’s Going Ahhhn…

Here is another week filled with shows from end to end. One nice detail about this week is there are a lot of charity shows, which means you can see some of your favorite local bands AND make a difference by choosing your show wisely. I wish there were more of these type of events throughout the year, but the holidays are an important time to give to those in need.

When & Where: Tuesday, December 8th, 8pm at Crescent Ballroom
Reasons To Attend: Sean Mullaney put out a bang up EP this year, I just saw Dylan Pratt last week and he sounds better than ever, add to that Lane Change and Sunshower and you’ve got a pretty tight Tuesday night.
Other Details: A stellar night of entertainment begins at 8 with Dylan Pratt, followed by Lane Change, then Sean Mullaney takes the stage, and the night concludes with Sunshower! Tix are only $5! https://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/mobile/index/1004081

When & Where: Tuesday, December 8th, 8pm at Funny World
Reasons To Attend: I will tirelessly promote any Diners show happening, because I think they are the future of indie pop. So this is all about Diners and you get to see three other great acts for one small fee.
Other Details: MANDARIN DYNASTY (portland)
Mike Sherk writes irresistably charming bedroom pop songs. He’s got an endless supply of his nice personality just pouring out of his music. Mandarin Dynasty’s new album titled, “Feedback Time” is fantastic. The sound effortlessly combines his lyrical folk style and mellow nylon string guitar with some dance and funk sensibilities. But that doesn’t exactly pinpoint it. A part of it could be the production and performance help from iji’s Zach Burba, but I think knowing of Sherk’s scholarly appreciation for historic pop geniuses helps put the music in perspective, even though the influences may not be blatantly obvious (besides a playful Arthur Russell reference in the first song.)
Long story short: It’s good, you’ll like it!

PINES (olympia)
Pines is a brand new band from Olympia and this is their first tour! But that doesn’t mean this is their first rodeo, no sireebob! The folks in Pines have all been playing in amazing and influential diy bands for years like Margy Pepper, Parasol, Prank War and Box Fan just to name a few.
