What’s Going Ahhhn…

Better late than never, I had a birthday to attend to, so this is getting out a little late this week. The bad news is there have already been a lot of killer shows. The good news is that this week roars like a lion all the way into next week. That said, the choices you have to make, on Saturday, the night of a million shows may be a bit rough. I made my choice for that night months ago and I’m sticking to it. It’s a seriously great week of music, setting up the end of Summer perfectly as the weather starts to recline and people spring back to life. Enjoy!

When & Where: Sunday, August 28th, 8pm at Valley Bar
Reasons To Attend: So, I just saw House of Stairs for the first time on Monday night and I was utterly blown away by them. I was listening to The Stakes EP from 2014 and I’m waiting for them to drop their full length, because they’re amazing. In addition to those two, you Abstrack The Ban from San Diego who sound pretty great. This is a good bet for a Sunday night.
Other Details: Our friends from California and our friends here in Phoenix are joining us for a night of the best live music! Don’t miss out!!
Abstrack The Band

Abstrack is a San Diego based band with an exceptional sound that incorporates many musical elements such as R&B, Soul, Pop, Jazz & R&B. Their sound originates from musical influences like J Dilla, Robert Glasper, Nirvana, Prince & Erykah Badu.

House of Stairs

House of Stairs is a jazz-based collective that draw from funk, soul and pop influences to create a distinct progressive soundscape. Inspired by the visual innovations of M.C. Escher, House of Stairs exploring multi-faceted interactions between harmony, meter and lyrics that are both compelling and imaginative.

The Stakes

The Stakes have brought soul to Arizona’s hip-hop scene. Their eclectic sound takes root in the precedent of live hip-hop set by The Roots, Robert Glasper and Sidewalk Chalk while building on the social consciousness of backpack rap. With a blend all their own of influences spanning jazz, funk and R&B, The Stakes provide an infectious groove sure to keep your head nodding and feet moving…

When & Where: Monday, August 29th, 8pm at The Rebel Lounge
Reasons To Attend: I can do further justice to this important show than what is written below. This Monday evening is essential.
Other Details: I think Mike Montoya of Fatigo summed it up best:

Playing at The Rebel lounge is important for a few reasons.
1) It’s the old Mason Jar building which was a legendary rock club that everyone including Tool, Green day, Devotchka, Metallica and so on..played at during their tours.

2) It’s now resurrected as The Rebel Lounge and Stephen Chilton has put his heart and soul into it!

3) Fatigo has been a band for 15 years and we enjoy playing music together, but also eachothers’ company. The songs we’ll play on 8/29 are definitely a part of a soundtrack of our lives and even losses. 8/29 will definitely be a celebration of all of this.

4) We’re sharing the stage with legendary Bisbee guitar hero Dylan Charles!

5) Also it’s important to point out REVIZOR will be joining us after a loooooong hiatus from shows as they were adding to Phoenix and the Earth’s population. We definitely missed them!
