As promised this is late this week, because of the shows I highlighted on Monday and Tuesday, last week. I wanted to still get this out earlier, but it’s a pretty forgiving week in that there a nearly twenty fantastic shows and almost all of them are being held on Saturday. It happens at least one week a month and this is that magic week where you might actually stay home because it’s like picking which child is your favorite. Seriously, I wish there was a way to avoid this, but it’s been a tradition in the local music scene for as long as I’ve been covering it.
When & Where: Friday, December 9th, 5pm at Campus House
Reasons To Attend: Rainbowfucker have released their debut record which is nine tracks in eighteen minutes. On “I Gaze, Shoegaze, We All Gaze” Rainbowfucker finds Redemption in their Hostile approach toward Paper thin takes of shoegaze ideas. As bewildering as it is compelling, what it comes down to is nine vignettes, song sketches if you will, that each jerk you off without ever allowing you a happy ending. Oh, also Twin Ponies, Fairy Bones and WASH will be there. So this is going to be fucking amazing. If you don’t know where Campus House is, you probably need to reevaluate your life.
Other Details: The debut of Tempe based noise rock group Rainbowfucker.

When & Where: Saturday, December 10th, 8pm at The Rogue Bar
Reasons To Attend: Mainly I need people to go see Broken Girls From Affluent Backgrounds for me. I’ve been trying to see them for two years now it seems and every single time I either have a prior commitment or something comes up and rains out the venue or something equally random. This is going to be an amazing show with Headstrum and I.Am.Hologram on deck…which means I need to check the other bands because I’m betting they are just as solid.
Other Details: Broken Girls From Affleunt Backgrounds Return to The Rogue Bar, With HeadStrum, Sun System, I Am Hologram & The Majority Doors @ 8, $5 Cover
When & Where: Saturday, December 10th, 8pm at Last Exit Live
Reasons To Attend: The cool thing about decker. is that they always pick the best show support and it’s always different. This night will be no different and this time around they have recruited CooBee Coo and Steff & The Articles. It’s also at my favorite venue in town…so, it’s not like I have a choice where I will be on Saturday night. Plus, I need one more live decker. fix before the end of this year.
Other Details: KWSS Presents:
decker. closing out our 2016 Snake River Blues Tour at Last Exit Live. We will be joined by CooBee Coo + Steff and The Articles.
Also will be releasing a new Snake River Blues handmade 7″ record. There will only be about 2 dozen.

Reasons To Attend: I just checked out Whiskey Kiss’ new album and it’s pretty tight, I have to admit. I don’t know a damn thing about the other two bands, but I have listened to everything Whiskey Kiss has ever recorded and that’s worth it alone. It’s their party, you should go if you want to.

Reasons To Attend: So this is just a super cool thing that The Rebel Lounge is doing on the Monday nights before Christmas. All the details below. This week I am all about Vintage Wednesday. Those kids are talent on fire right now. You can pay the cover or bring a toy instead, but definitely get there for their set.

When & Where: Monday, December 12th, 7pm at The Trunk Space
Reasons To Attend: I am all about There Is Danger and Joe Vito, but they’ve got this great show with Nick Jaina and you should really check out his stuff on bandcamp. This show is a stunner for a Monday, that’s for sure.
Other Details: Nick Jaina is a musician and writer from Portland, Oregon. He is a co-founder and musical director of the Satellite Ballet and Collective in New York City. He has composed the music for three ballets and three contemporary dances with that group, featuring dancers from the New York City Ballet, Ten Hairy Legs, and Juilliard, performing at the Baryshnikov Center and the Joyce Theater. Their most recent performance was two sold-out shows at Brooklyn Academy of Music in May 2014. Of that show, the New York Times wrote, “[The] pure, pungent, earthy music for strings, piano, and percussion… was the most physically bracing part of the night.”
