Just to get the Elephant out of the room, The Pot of Gold festival is this weekend and you can read about that everywhere else. It will be a great way to welcome Summer’s early rearing. Seriously, I’m sure every publication has that thing sussed for you. Anyway, major festival aside, there are a lot of really cool shows this weekend and one of the best records of the year is being released at The Rebel Lounge on Thursday night. Seriously Sundressed’s new record is insanely good. That is but one of many peaks this week, here’s a sneak preview of the rest.
When & Where: Thursday, March 15th, 6:30pm at Tempe Center for the Arts
Reasons To Attend: They’re calling an all acoustic performance by Darkness Dear Boy semi-rare. I want to make on thing perfectly clear, a performance by DDB is semi-rare or actually rare anymore, so this is actually ultra rare or super mega rare. Also, this will be awesome.
Other Details: Join Darkness Dear Boy for a (semi rare) all acoustic performance at the Tempe Center for the Arts EDGE happy hour. All ages & FREE!
When & Where: Thursday, March 15th, 7:30pm at The Rebel Lounge

Hope to see you there! Tim & Lana
((Insert hyperbolic band bio here!))
True to its provocative name, the New York launched, Phoenix based band Broken Poets has been exploring exciting new ground with their lyric based modern indie rock for over a decade. In many ways, however, the band’s founder, singer, songwriter and guitarist Tim McDonald is a throwback to an era when lyrics were king and fans craved songs that pierced the soul and could change the world. One critic said it best about the songs McDonald brings to life with his Broken Poets partner, classically trained Russian pianist, Svetlana Antropova and a revolving series of top side players: “Soulful poetry turned into song, rock & roll and introspection all in one.”
When & Where: Saturday, March 18th, 8pm at Palo Verde Lounge
Reasons To Attend: Best show in the weirdest venue award for the week. Though to be fair, the last time I saw Alvie & The Breakfast Pigs it was at Palo Verde Lounge, now that they’ve left AZ, it’s apparently their portal. Add The Plainfield Butchers, Ancient Egypt and The Redemptions and you’ve got a fantastic show.
