What’s Going Ahhhn…

It’s definitely Summer. To celebrate that fact I’ll be playing chauffeur this weekend as my lady love entertains crowds in Bisbee and Tucson. That said, I may have some lingering feelings of missing out on a few shows. The good news is that you don’t have to feel that way, because unless you have travel plans, there’s a ton of great shows to catch this week and some amazing highlights during the weekend. Check it out below!

When & Where: Wednesday, June 7th, 8pm at Pho Cao
Reasons To Attend: Pan Complex is from Texas and I want to say Austin, because I like to hope for the best. T.O.S.O. is amazing, live, on record, in your living room and at Pho Cao. The Psychedelephants will be interesting to watch because Danger Paul is broken and may need to play from a wheelchair or barcalounger. Old Star may or may not have been previously called Day Before Plastics, but I haven’t quite figured that out yet. This should be your Wednesday night.
Other Details:  Set times below…

T.O.S.O. – 9
The Psychedelephants – 10
Pan Complex – 11
Old Star – 12

When & Where: Thursday, June 7th, 6pm at Helio Basin Brewing Co.
Reasons To Attend: If you want to listen to The Mainstay EP by El West before anyone else other than me and other people the band has shared it with under cover of the night, you can also enjoy it while drinking a beer crafted with El West in mind. It’s a cool deal when you’ve got a new record AND a new beer.
Other Details: El West has teamed up with Helio Basin Brewing Company to brew a collaboration beer for the EL West EP Release Show at Valley Bar, Friday, June 16th. We invite you to a early peak at our NEW EP, The Mainstay EP, and an early taste of this awesome El West inspired beer! The party will begin at 6PM, and we will play the EP at around 7PM and maybe again later for those who cant make it by 7. Come Celebrate with us!

When & Where: Thursday, June 8th, 7pm at The Rebel Lounge
Reasons To Attend: Usually I recommend a show because of at least one band on the bill that I know can show you a good time. That said, I haven’t the foggiest notion who any of these bands are, but it’s kind of like buying an album based on the cover. Psyko Steve knows what he’s doing, The Rebel Lounge is fantastic and that flyer, my lord what a beautiful thing. I just have a feeling this will be great, but I make no guarantees.
Other Details: THE PUNK REBELLION
featuring
After The Calm
The Take Over
Starcross
Expiration date
Broke Hearts & Body Parts

June 8th at The Rebel Lounge!
Advance tickets are just $8 from the bands, at Stinkweeds or online at:http://www.therebellounge.com/event/1481316

(Due to an error with the Image file, there is no flyer here at the time of publication. It is a lovely flyer though, but it won’t upload to the site without an IO Error. Just imagine the flyer and all the details below with call outs to 93.3 and all of the bands)

When & Where: Thursday, June 8th, 7pm at Pub Rock Live
Reasons To Attend: Here’s that cool thing the mainstream alternative station in town is doing and I couldn’t love this kind of effort more. On this round New Chums, A Step Ahead, and Divided Minds will be on display which means you’re in for a fast paced night of fun. Also, as a reminder, Pub Rock is kind of close to other cool things and not drowning in Scottsdale as it were.
Other Details: ALT AZ 93-3 is proud to present Homegrown With Mo Local Showcase every 2nd Thursday of the month at Pub Rock Live!
Join Mo, New Chums, A Step Ahead, and Divided Minds on June 8th for ALT AZ’s local music showcase.

Before I realized I was heading to Bisbee this weekend I was marveling at this lineup and how I hadn’t heard Zero Degrees North before, but now I have. On another note, I’m really fucking sorry I missed on their Mandatory Story Time album last year. Really sorry. But I’m listening to it now and loving it, but better late than never I guess.

Venue aside you have some of the best bands in the damn state all gathered under the creative umbrella of the Mescal Porch Collective. I won’t be able to make this show, but you should go in my place with all of your friends in tow.

Either way, it’s a special treat, plus you get The Expos, Weird Radicals and Raquel Denis showing local love and support. This is your downtown indie dream come true.

When & Where: Friday, June 9th, 8pm at Unexpected
Reasons To Attend: This is the final (?) performance of this magical show and the one show to feature Joobs in the role of Jareth! This has been fabulous the last couple weeks. I only wish this would get a run at a proper theatre, but maybe they’ll work on it. It would be worth it. Either way, if you haven’t caught this yet, catch it Friday!
Other Details: Goblins! Fairies! Live Music! Magic! The Bog of Eternal Stench!
Pan Productions presents the live stage musical, The Goblin King’s City, an adaptation of the 1986 film Labyrinth.
From the directors and producers of Rocky Horror at The Firehouse, and A Swimming in the Head, this full stage production includes a large cast and crew of seasoned favorites, along with many new faces. A live, re-imagined version of the score will be brought to life by local favorites Jerusafunk, including two original songs written and performed by We Are Hologram, the first full band performance by local musician I am Hologram. The show will also include an original song written by Serene Dominic.
This showing will feature local musical artist Joobs, as Jareth, The Goblin King.
We will feature Kendra Ruth Martinez as Sarah.
The cast features Jesse Abrahams as Hoggle, Will Jones as Ludo, Alexandra Morfin as Sir Didymus, and Uche Ujania as Merlin/Ambrosias. Puppets for the production are crafted by Adam Bullock.
This is an all ages show.

We had a wonderful opening night on May 26 at The Pressroom, and a packed house for our second showing on June 3, at Unexpected. Be sure not to miss our final performance on Friday, June 9, at Unexpected Gallery.
Facebook made us create separate event pages for each date, so apologies for multiple invites.
