What’s Going Ahhhn…

Well this appears to be the week that all the Halloween shows are happening and on top of that Apache Lake Music Festival! Whether you are staying in town or taking the trip to East by God, it’s going to be a great time if you’re craving live, local music. I’ve included a lot of shows below where I can’t necessarily vouch for the bands, but what the Hell, it’s Halloween and I’ll promote any show with half a flyer to celebrate my favorite holiday…Let’s get to it.

When & Where: Friday, October  26th-Saturday, October 27th at Apache Lake
Reasons to Attend: If you haven’t been to ALMF in a few years this is absolutely the year to go. It’s nice to see some of the newer, younger acts getting stage time and the lineup is solid with locals from all over town and time. Seriously, this is an inexpensive, camping getaway weekend in paradise, where your friends are all playing in bands. It can be a pretty righteous time and I don’t expect this year to be any different.

When & Where: Friday, October 26th, 6pm at The Tempe Center for the Arts
Reasons to Attend: This is a treat since Sarah Chapman has been largely working on recording her solo album, so a Ghost Cat Attack show is a rare treat for right now. I’m not sure when the next Ghost Cat show will be, so catch GCA at the TCA before heading out for the rest of the night!
Other Details: Singer-songwriter Sarah Chapman & her band Ghost Cat Attack rock the Tempe Center for the Arts Edge Happy Hour Series.

EDGE Happy Hour runs Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays | 6 – 8 pm | No Cover

Native to Arizona, Sarah Chapman has grown up singing for most of her life. She picked up the guitar at 16 after dabbling in poetry and songwriting became a natural next step. She has since played all over Arizona and has formed a full band, Ghost Cat Attack, to rock out some of her original songs- check them out at www.ghostcatattack.bandcamp.com andwww.facebook.com/ghostcatattack

When & Where: Friday, October 27th, 6pm at The Trunk Space

Reasons to Attend: Friday is pretty much packed with stellar lineups, but this is off the hook and it’s out in Mesa, but it’s at the Nile, so it’s even up. The real point is that this lineup slays and it feels like a “Best and Brightest” in the New Crowd festival. This should be a traveling road show.

This is one espresso cart away from being fucking paradise for me.

When & Where: Saturday, October 28th, 7pm at 2431 E Van Buren St, Phoenix
Reasons to Attend: Weird Noise Experiments in a Weird Venue Warehouse space. This is going to be as weird as it gets for your weekend, but I guarantee it will be rewarding. All the details you need below.
Other Details: Experiment 07! We are moving to a warehouse space without the normal noise restrictions! This place is still a bit virgin when it comes to its place in the arts community, so let’s see what we think. Bring your noise and lets crank it up!
It’s a warehouse, so we can go fully with the format in the round, speakers facing inward toward the performers, but spaced out so the sudience can get in there to fully experience the kind of altered states this event tends to bring. It’s worked well and i think it will again. Everyone sets up at the center and acts move in and out as it’s going.
As it’s a new space, we don’t yet know what we’ll need. If you have chairs, bring them. If you have extra power cords (extensions, strips, etc.), bring them. Let’s be prepared!
If all goes well we should have the use of this space ongoing. The peeps here are trying to find thier place and we are part of them connecting with the rest of the community.
Share with friends… Let’s make this big… No holding back!
Performances by:
Kretch Feilderman (Metrical Dimensions),
Ethan Barrett (EONS),
Max Modeen (Enigma Machine),
Chelsea Claire (Fugly Chuds),
Don Boles (Casual Alien),

We have more time and space, I’m game (Scott speaking) to try to make this many people work, especially since we’re going to have the main setup be in a circle.

When & Where: Saturday, October 28th, 8pm at The Shop Beer, Co.
Reasons to Attend: I don’t understand the “flyer”, the “venue” or really anything except that I love The Apaches and Surf. So there’s that.
