  • The Woolly Bandits from Los Angeles have now become the fifth artist to join 80/20 Records roster and to celebrate they have released a furiously paced six song EP to celebrate this! Joining labelmates Captain Squeegee, Fairy Bones, Zero Zero and Statues of Cats (also from LA) they add another definitive layer of exciting Garage Rock to the growing local label. I recently caught The Woolly Bandits at the Lowview Magazine release party and they happened to let it slip that they had just joined 80/20 Records and I was pretty much beyond excited. They are a great band (it...

  • One of my favorite debut bands of 2013 is, without a doubt, Fairy Bones. One of four bands born from the ashes of Born Loser and The Hangers On, Fairy Bones is a dynamite four piece who released their debut on October 15th. First off, singer Chelsey Louise is a goddamned firecracker on stage and the band supports her histrionics and indulgences with smiles, grins and a furious garage groove.  Until last month, I wasn’t entirely sure how their performance would play out on record, but I had nothing to worry about—the recordings have come out with enough visceral energy,...

  • For the entire time I’ve known them, I  have wondered (in much the same way I spend nights staring up at the stars) what the debut album would from Future Loves Past would hold in store for its loyal listeners. This past Spring musical architect and late night home studio whiz Eric Palmer began sending me tracks that he had just completed at 4am and I was stunned—this raised the ante even  more, but I had no idea what it could all be possibly be leading toward. Then some weeks ago, bassist Sean Wintrow made it clear when he sent...

  • One of  my  favorite new  groups of  2012 that have “hit the ground  the running” and  emerged  as a band  I try to catch every time they play is  PALMS. There are other groups that debuted this year that I knew couldn’t disappoint, like supergroup Zero Zero (who play with PALMS quite often!), but PALMS was an unexpected surprise at how great they were from the onset and how quickly they garnered my favor. Today, as a special Christmas present for all their fans, PALMS has released their new single “Dirty Little Knees” and today only, you can download it...
