  • Alright, there is at least one great show every night here for the next six nights in a row and that’s what this is all about. I actually meant to include Tuesday night because there was a killer show at the Yucca with my faves Twin Ponies and Celebration Guns, but yesterdays article took too long to write and I really should have had my shit together on Sunday, but I didn’t. Nevertheless, here are the gorgeous details of all that’s going down in this town over the next six nights. There may well be more going on than this,...

  • Well, hell it’s been a damned rocky road to get to 2014. I feel like last year I was trucking along full speed and killing it with unbreakable momentum. The fact that I haven’t posted in over a month proves that I hit a roadblock. I apologize for ducking out for an unplanned hiatus. Hey, I’m only one guy–I don’t have a staff and only occasionally do I have other contributors, mostly this is a one man show. A show I intend to get back on the road. The main problem for me began in October when there was a...

  • Seriously, 2011 has raised the bar on what CD Release shows in this town are about. The blowouts held by Lisa Savidge, Dry River Yacht Club, Peachcake, What Laura Says and now, this week, The Whisperlights have all reached a new level of just what a CD release show should be about. These are all out events that completely engage the senses, arranged to delight the mind and whether it’s at the Rhythm Room, Yucca Tap Room, The Icehouse or now, The Duce these shows are equally vying for mindblowing events of the year. These evenings are designed as memorable...

First off, it’s The Whisperlights releasing an amazing record called Surfaces, an album I have spent quite a bit of time with over the past week or so, working on the July/August feature for JAVA Magazine. After nearly twenty listens to the album, surprisingly, it doesn’t grow old, not so surprisingly, after that many listens you...
